Why Are You Here?

i'm wondering why believers remain members of this forum which is clearly hostile to believers.

as one member said, nonbelievers pounce on any semblance of belief like piranhas on prey.

as former jws we should have had our fill of judgmental know-it-alls, but here we are.

In the 2013 RC talk on "Human Apostates" they mentioned a apostate using a new tactic of writting letters to the homes of individual publishers [NY since 1989, individual residences since 2004]. I am that "apostate". Hence I follow the site very close for the purpose of keeping abreast with the latest happenings. The church is VERY effective in using shunning as a tool to erect a very high fence between 'their people' and 'apostates' so there is no communication. BUT the internal 'grapevine' with in the church works very well, get the information into the 'grape vine' and it gets spread to the those of whom are my targeted elders [every letter gets sent to church Service Dept. by a designated elder].

You are right there seems to be a large number of 'glass half empty' posters. If you wanted to go back and read my posts I connected the biggest story to come out of the new RNWT to a VERY controversial 1987 Wt article "A Time to Speak" When" that sets out church policy on informing on the brotherhood. Yet to date no one of the 'glass half full' posters have taken the time to make the connection that the WTBS did more than shoot themselves in the foot when they released the RNWT as it clearly shows WTBS policies to be apostate in substance.

This is a timely post as locally there is a lot of consternation going on with in the elder community in the Redding Ca. area. In my last few letters I made connection between Lev.5:1, Deut.22:25-27 and 1Pet.2: 14-16. The results being that my disfellowshipped son [now living with me] during the past two weeks has had four sets of instructions as to elders wanting to set up a meeting with to talk, one being we think the circuit overseer. Yet the meetings were changed then postponed. This being Sunday the last of circuit overseer visit to son's home cong. we will see if it is either going to be on or back to silence. That should be pretty unprecedented that they would be the one to initiate contact with a disfellowshipped person.

So yes this site has been valuable for information to be used in a mental chess match between myself and the church Service Dept. that is played out on the chess board of the local church grape vine.

before i go to extreme south texas, let me acknowledge an early influence that gave me self-worth, self-assurance, self-esteem and the feeling that i was as good as any damn person on this planet.. larry ranch, my congregation servant in renton, washington(home of boeing aircraft), was on my dad's judicial committee.

my dad had sexually molested my sister, sandy, repeatedly.

my dad got probation from the judicial committee.

Yes there were some real people in that era. I am 70 and veiewed the generation proir as indeed the greatest generation in this country. Those who went through the great depression, WW 2. Those were the people who made the JW religion respectable. In the JW community there were individuals [both men and women] who were the father and mother figures. It was said somewhere " it takes a village to raise a boy OR girl" and it was folks like Larry who left their mark on us 'baby boomers'.

But all that has been eroded by the "obedience to the organization mantra". The WTBS is now a "system" and those who know how to work a system are the elders who leave their mark on the younger generation. Big diffrence between how those of us 'baby bomers' turned out, having ' Larry Ranch's' as father figures compared with the present day crop of JW young adults.

the findings confirm suspicions that opioids played a role in the musician’s death.. after he died, authorities began reviewing whether an overdose was to blame and whether he had been prescribed drugs in the preceding weeks.. according to the national institute on drug abuse, fentanyl is more potent than morphine, and is “sometimes used to treat people with chronic pain who are physically tolerant to opiates.”.

say you went to your dr because you were pregnant and unmarried or wanting counseling for having to live a double life as a pretend jw... and a jw secretary at the drs office saw this on your file and went tattling to the elders?.

The one who had the right to judge never got to be born. As to whether Sharon deserved what she got would depend on where you stand on the abortion issue. But what she got crushed her, as to be a nurse was her hearts desire.

But the important thing by bring up the account is to realize how the GB mislead their readers by changing efforts to save a human life into something trivial as reporting a sinner. That article was written by an APOSTATE!

Robo Bobo Is correct the title of the Wt article was "A Time to Speak When?". The health care worker is now married to a uncle of mine her name is Sharon G. The event happened in the Calif. Bay Area. In the article she was represented as a clerk in medical records, named Mary, who came across payment for a abortion procedure as proof that the unmarried sister was a fornicator hence needed to be reported to elders per Lev.5:1. Sharon in truth was a nurse and saw a married sister scheduled for a abortion, she tried to talk the sister out of the abortion, she went to the elders to try and talk the sister out of the abortion, the sister went ahead and had the abortion. Sharon was trying to save a human life not report a sin. For her efforts she was balck balled out of the medical profession for revealing confidential information.

I thought it was time to talk.....

i'd like to relate an experience i had yesterday with a couple of jw's "working" with a cart yesterday.. been coming to this site for many years and these days i don't feel i've got much to contribute ,but i was out yesterday doing some voluntary work for a friend who has gone on an overseas trip .travelling around my local seaside area doing the job at hand ,i came across a couple of jw's sitting in a shelter overlooking the beach and had their trolley propped against a large public rubbish bin ,it was actually hard to see ithe trolley from most angles - whatever happened to lifting the basket to show the light stuff ...oh well .the large carpark was pretty empty except for us ,we've had pretty wet weather here lately ,bad storms and here they were set up for a days witnessing rugged up with wind and spitting rain ,i sort of thought " well that's dedication " ....that was my first thought then i pulled myself together and then thought "if i wanted to get some time in and not have to work at it too hard this maybe the place to go if i was a jw still".. well i finished my pickup and looked over at the two and realised i'd read other's experiences about approaching the cart people and wondered if talking to them would be of any benefit as i had witnessed this area for many years and my stance against the wts for hiding molestation of children is well known ,i thought, and they avoid me like the plague.. they were'nt familiar to me so i went up to them and introduced myself and quickly let them know who i was and what i am doing now as regards jw's.

they were a married couple middle aged been in for a long time and could relate to changes in the org very well to pre 1975 when i had first contact.

they pretty much suggested i was blinded to the truth ,when challenged on the royal commission into sex abuse they pointed to a case where they believed a victim they supposedly knew of in the jws was a liar ,so that's their case for the org -unbelievable.

The contribution of Deut.22:25-27 you made, to me was an outstanding enlightenment. I have included that in my letter writing to prove the "two witness rule" is of apostate orgin. NY has not liked your workmanship, they have came down very hard as to anyone talking to my df'd son, here a couple of weeks ago. He is going to a funeral tomorrow and I will expect him to experience a total silence, due to what I learned from you. Your workmanship has become known in Northern California.

how in the world did they justify this torture?

imagine the children forced to sit in the summer heat at yankee stadium for 12 hours a day.

To me those assemblies were opprtunities for adventure from a dreary JW childhood as it offered the oppertunity to 'work' at the assembly. I fed Otto Stores tray drying machine in Candlestick in 1961, Rose Bowl in 63, Candlestick in 66. Was in charge of garbage removal in Atlanta in 69. Which was cool, that way I didn't have to go out in field service and didn't have to were meeting clothes, as I was 'working'.

Those who went to Candlestick Park well knew the Mark Twain quote " that the coldest winter he ever knew was a summer in San Francisco".

Had a operation today and was asked about blood transfusions.

operation was successful only minor but some interesting information was revealed to me from the surgeon.l requested that they treat me as if l was a jehovahs witness with regards to blood transfusions.the doctor said well that varies from jw to jw and l asked what do you mean?his response was that in his dealings with jw's was that approx half of witnesses will accept a blood transfusion in life threatening circumstances and sign a form saying so.l was blown away when he told me this.l was curious if others in here have heard similar storys.lt seems to me that many witnesses have weakened their stance on this controversial subject.

I went in for a minor thying, when asked about blood I said there was no problem as I was DFed . The doctor of whom I knew [I provided a event where his two daughters played fiddles] I told him I was a former JW and he said "me too".
